What is a Mala?

Malas are ancient, spiritual necklaces used for meditation, and worn for gemstone healing. Each mala has 108 beads of all natural gemstones. Mala beads have been used in India since the 8th century BCE. They were used as a meditation tool for people who had a hard time sitting still during meditation. Mala meditation is a type of Japa yoga (mantra, chant). In sanskrit, mala means garland.

What are Gemstones?

Gemstones are semi precious stones found on the earth that hold numerous healing properties. Rose Quartz is great for the heart chakra, while Tiger’s Eye is great for the third eye chakra. It’s important to notice how you feel when you receive the stone’s energy and notice what benefits it has for you to personally rather than generally.

Why 108 beads?

  • There are 108 Upanishads (sacred texts of India).

  • 108 sacred sites in India.

  • 108 marma points (ayurvedic healing points).

  • 108 is dialed for emergencies.

  • 108 lines of energy from the heart chakra.

  • The sun is 108 times the circumference of earth.

  • 108 letters in the sanskrit alphabet.
